Lions District 21B District Governor
Carl Johannesen

District Governor Carl Johannesen began his career in Lions back in 1979, when he joined the Amarillo Downtown Lions in Amarillo, Texas - and he has been going strong ever since.

Job moves took him to Lions Clubs in Denver, Salt Lake City and Easton, Massachusetts. In Massachusetts, Lion Carl went through the chairs to become president in 2000-2001, Zone Chair in 2001-2002, and Region Chair from 2002 to 2006.

In 2001, Lion Carl was named District Lion of the Year, Co-Lion of the Year for the entire Multiple District, and a Melvin Jones Fellow.

Lion Carl worked in the wholesale paper distribution business and owned a janitorial services franchising company. He and wife Tia (also a Lion) retired and moved to Mesa in 2007.

Transferring his membership to the Mesa Leisure World Lions, Carl has held several club offices and served as District 21B Extension Chair. He helped start the new San Tan Lions Club and was named 21B Lion of the Year for 2008/2009.

DG Carl and Tia have been married for 35 years and have a daughter at Colorado University and a son in Wisconsin. Along with Lions, he is active in the Freemasons but says he has pretty much given up golf - something about being considered a public menace on the course . .
