Immediate Past District Governor Jim Brotherton

Past District Governor Jim Brotherton is fairly new to Arizona - but not new to Lions. He has been a Lion for nearly 20 years, in four different clubs and in three states - New York, Maryland, and now in the Sun Lakes Lions Club here in Arizona.

In New York, he served as Region Chairperson and as MERL Leadership Chairman. Here in Arizona he was tapped to serve as district treasurer, on the ALERT board, and as MERL membership chair. He earned 100% awards for his work as club president in each club..

He holds three International letters of recognition - one each for Leadership, Membership Growth, and for starting a Leo Club. He has brought in 15 new members - so far. And he is a Melvin Jones Fellow.

And if working in Lions wasn’t enough, during a period when he wasn’t a Lion, he helped to charter a new Kiwanis Club in New York, served as president, and sponsored that club’s first female member.

Past District Governor Jim was born and raised in Warsaw, New York - about 30 miles from Buffalo. He and his wife Lion Dottie moved to Arizona about 4 years ago in search of sunshine.

He made his career in insurance and now works part time as an insurance inspector. He also served as Supervisor for the town of Cherry Creek, New York, and operated his own agricultural business in northern New York State.

Married for 25 years to Lion Dottie, DG Jim is father to five and grandfather to fifteen. Although Lions work often keeps him busy these days, he still says he is determined to find time for golf - lots and lots of golf.
